Smart #1 is about to get a performance version that will reportedly come with Brabus branding, and whilst the normal version is not yet out, Smart has already released an official teaser video showing off some of its unique styling features.

A closer look at the video reveals a red-illuminated grille, dual intakes on the bumper, a larger rear spoiler, and a new aero design for the wheels. The model is painted in a matte gray exterior shade combined with a red roof, black badges, and red accents all around the bodywork. There are also quick shots of the interior showing the driver pressing a button on the center console, presumably to activate a sporty driving mode.

The Smart #1 Brabus has now been revealed on Chinese social media. And a full reveal is not far off, Smart confirming that the covers will come off its new hot small electric SUV on 26 August.

View the Smart #1 Brabus Pictures here.

Chinese media claim that the model will feature dual electric motors with a combined power output of 400 hp (299 kW / 406 PS), or up to 428 hp (315 kW / 434 PS). This is a healthy upgrade over the 264 hp (200 kW / 272 PS) of the single-motor Smart #1.

The Brabus-fettled model gets go-faster add-ons like unique front and rear bumpers, side skirts and cooling vents in the bonnet for the car’s front-mounted electric motor. There’s also a large roof-mounted spoiler, bigger alloy wheels and plenty of red exterior highlights.

More red also exists in the cabin – it can be found in the seams of the seats and in the details of the dashboard and headrests. Being Brabus, there is no shortage of leather, microfiber, and Alcantara spread through the interior. You'll find aluminium pedals at your feet, too.

This is the 2023 Smart #1 Brabus, it has now been officially unveiled at the Chengdu Motor Show in China.

Brabus is an independent tuner and aftermarket specialist, for the Smart #1 project it has worked alongside Smart directly in creating the performance EV crossover.

At this stage we don't know if it will come to the UK, Europe or anywhere outside of China. See the official launch photos below;

As well as the visual updates to the exterior and interior, Brabus have also worked on the performance of the Smart #1. They have fitted an additional electric motor up front with 154 hp and 147 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque that operates alongside the standard 268 hp and 253 lb-ft (343 Nm) motor at the rear axle. That results in a combined 422 hp and 400 lb-ft (543 Nm) of torque, which is pretty powerful of something this size. It's enough to send the Smart #1 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.7 seconds! No details on an upgraded battery, so if that hasn't changed I would expect range to suffer.

Hi everyone, my name is adrian and im one of the first owners of the smart #1 Brabus vehicle in china. i was one of the first batch of people who made a pre-order of the car on the june 6th 2022. The car was delivered to us on the 17th of October 2022 so i have been driving and testing it for around 4 months.

My impressions on the car is that it seem very well designed, the exterior and interior seem very modern. Being a owner of a 600hp evo 9 i am still impressed with the power performance of this car as there is no lag at all with electric cars, when u put your foot on the accelerator there is instant power. The manufacturer claims their 0-100 time is 3.9sec, i tested this with P-gear and it was 3.85sec and top speed is 184km/hr which is more then enough for city driving.

Hope to see more owners in the forum soon
